Memories
I am alone in my memories of you. We were young, you were too young to go, but sometimes life has its way of turning things upside down. We had only shared a few moments before you were gone, but the loss of you lasted longer than what we created. I remember feeling weirdly alone. Had any of it actually happened? No one had known of you. No one had known of me. And then it all disappeared as though nothing had ever occurred.
Thinking about it now makes me wonder. What happens to memories as those who made them together, disappear one by one? What happens as each person falls away to different paths taken, to new loves or new experiences . . . to life, illness, accidents . . . or death? Life goes on, of this I know . . . but the memories exist only as long as I do, only as long as you do, and only as long as anyone allows them to do so. Unless a moment is taken to share the memories with others . . . you are the sole provider of its life.
Today I take a moment to share our memories . . . and by doing so, I give a moment of life back to you.
