A Loving Heart

Your humor, your heart, your loving spirit and soul — holding your hand was like holding the hand of Aloha. Everything about you reminded me of the beauty of Hawai’i. From the warmth of your skin to the brightness of your sincere smile; from the height of your humor to the depths of your care and concern; you were everything extreme in all directions about love.

As I read through our pages, from “The Moon” to Honolulu to Lihue and back, the one thing that stands out most is our laughter. We shared so much aloha . . . but laughter is where we met. Laughter is what kept us going. And laughter is what kept us close even as we drifted apart. We will always have aloha between us, for you are aloha and you brought it out in me . . . but it is the deep and joyful laughter I feel the most, as I journey my way back through you.

To My Sweetheart
A LOVING HEART

This is a very special penny
As you can plainly see
The reason it’s so special is
It’s just for you, from me.

Whenever you are lonely
Or even feeling blue
You only have to hold this penny
To know I think of you.

So keep this penny with you
As a reminder of the joys we’ve shared
And remember it’s a symbol
Of A Loving Heart that cares

A Loving Heart - Hana Hou

I saw you tonight. At first I wasn’t sure it was you, but as the live video continued, I slowly realized it was 100% you. Seeing you again touched my heart, simply because you were being exactly who you are. A man of aloha, standing steady, strong and proud – for our ‘aina, for all people of our ‘aina, for the true meaning and spirit of aloha. It tugged at my heart as I watched you get taken away, but I knew you were safe. I knew you were at peace with what your heart was telling you to do. And I knew you were touching the hearts of many, as we watched each and every one of you stand up for each and every one of us – for our ‘aina, our heritage, and our future.

You did good. All of you did. And that’s an understatement of the moment. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo!

Mahalo nui loa for being you.
