Time After Time
I shared a moment with you once, as we randomly bumped into each other at a mall. The conversation was long and real, the smiles sincere; the stories and tidbits reflecting the changes brought on by time and maturity. A few years too late . . . we learned more about each other than what we had known before.
That was many, many years ago. I wonder what it would be like, if that were to happen again; with you, with others, with anyone part of my journey. Time has an inevitable way of changing the dynamics between you and those you share moments with. A family member, a classmate . . . a co-worker, friend, random stranger or love; life happens, people change, worksites and towns are replaced, relationships morph and evolve. Some people disappear, others are new; some people reappear . . . while others are with you for life.
Everyone bumps into their past. Excited greetings and quick updates are part of the norm; but I want more. I want to know you . . . your moods, your moments, your journey . . . why and who you are right now. Not the frivolous stuff on the surface, but more so what lies below. Maybe my curiosity is a result of where I am in life, or maybe it’s simply because I care and always will; but I am sincerely interested. I want to reach inside each and every one of you, to hear and acknowledge your truth . . . and whether you realize it or not . . . you want to share who you are.
